The Best Acai Bowl in Harajuku, Ranked by Japan's Bluntest Reviewer — the Influencer Shop Scored "Out of the Question"
原宿・表参道のアサイーボウル、正直レビューの順位 —— インフルエンサー店は「問題外」、地元の総意は THE_B へ
Japan's bluntest food reviewer ranked six Harajuku–Omotesando acai bowls, and the comment section's top reply (24,152 likes) is still laughing that the influencer-produced shop got exactly one note: "out of the question." The takedown — "tiny portions, served rock-hard" — struck at a bowl costing about the same ¥1,900 as the winner, and viewers who watched other reviewers eat there reported the same icy texture. The second consensus is the irony: the celebrity shop is how everyone discovered the acai places that are actually good. And the reviewer praising No. 1 that hard convinced even the skeptics — several commenters name it outright and confirm it's the real thing.
“The fact that "out of the question" is the entire review is genuinely killing me.”

"Tiny portions, served rock-hard — out of the question." The rhythm of that takedown is too good. Completely dismantling a shop in three seconds… the guy is clearly smart.

Rating it "out of the question" but still giving it a rank instead of disqualifying it — that's kindness.

¥1,900 for a small, rock-hard bowl — my anger gauge is going rock-hard too.

Aya Nakamachi said she added chocolate chips because she liked them in acai bowls overseas — but those were almost certainly cacao nibs, not chocolate.
中町綾、海外のアサイーにチョコチップがあってそれが好きだったから入れた って言ってたけど多分チョコじゃなくてカカオニブだよね。

I've watched other people eat her acai too, and they also called it icy — so it wasn't just this reviewer's visit. Now I'm really curious about No. 1 and No. 3; I'll go try them soon…!
中町綾さんのアサイー、他の人が食べてるのも見たけどその人もシャリシャリとか言ってたからまじでこの人が食べた時だけじゃないんやなと確信…1位と3位めちゃ気になるから少ししてから行ってみます…!

No. 1 and No. 6 cost basically the same, and yet the gap is this big.

What actually surprised me is how many acai shops there are around here. Location money, I guess — the prices are insane.

I live outside Tokyo, so I can't come often and can't afford a miss. This genuinely helps… even if it's expensive, I want the one that's actually good.

This place is genuinely delicious — like the video says, the non-fruit toppings are incredible. I never thought cacao nibs would become my favorite topping!
ここガチで美味しい、動画にもあったけどフルーツ以外のトッピングがめちゃくちゃ良かった!カカオニブが一番好きな具材になるとは思わなかったもん

FAQ
- What is the best acai bowl in Harajuku or Omotesando?
- In this ranking of six shops, No. 1 went to THE_B on Kotto-dori in Omotesando — and the comments back it up: "THE_B is SERIOUSLY good," and a first-timer worried no other acai bowl would satisfy them again. The reviewer rarely praises anything, which is exactly why commenters (2,078 likes) took the win seriously. Expect a queue.
- Is the influencer-produced acai shop in Harajuku worth it?
- As of these comments (August 2024), the verdict was brutal: ranked dead last with the note "tiny portions, served rock-hard — out of the question," at roughly ¥1,900, about the same price as the No. 1 bowl. Viewers who watched other reviewers eat there reported the same icy texture, so it wasn't a one-off visit.
- Why are acai bowls in Tokyo so expensive?
- Commenters flag it themselves: acai and fresh fruit are pricey to begin with, and Harajuku–Omotesando rents push bowls toward ¥1,500–2,000. The comment-section advice is to spend those yen where the ranking and the regulars agree — the gap between the best and worst bowl at the same price "is this big."

🍜 Food & Restaurants👍 30,739Food & RestaurantsYouTubeIs Kakida, Tokyo's Famous Luxury All-You-Can-Eat Sushi, Worth It? Locals Say You're Paying for the Party, Not the Fish
Japan's bluntest food reviewer called the sushi at Kakida — Tokyo's famous reservation-only luxury all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant — flat-out not good, and the comment section's top reply (30,739 likes) couldn't get past the black-and-white "heritage" photos at a shop founded in 2022. But the 2,500-comment consensus is more precise than a pile-on: the staff's warmth and the party energy are real ("honestly, I kind of want to go now" drew 3,754 likes), while the mechanics — starting you on pre-made sides, all-at-once refill rounds — read as designed to fill you up. The thesis comment locals rallied behind explains where to put your money instead.

🍜 Food & Restaurants👍 15Food & RestaurantsYouTubeWhere Tokyo Locals Actually Drink: Kamata, the Izakaya Town Ten Minutes from Haneda
Kamata barely registers with tourists — but under a 10-shop guide to its izakaya, Tokyo drinkers with 50, 60, even 70 years in the neighborhood signed off on the list ("been here 50 years; every one of these is a safe bet, even for first-timers") and then named 13 more shops of their own, from a white-liver yakitori joint by the east exit to a Hokkaido-only sake bar in the west arcade. The consensus No. 1 is Toriman, the giant cheap-and-cheerful institution locals have drunk at for half a century. One commenter put it simply: "I've drunk in countries all over the world. KAMATA is the strongest." And it's one train stop from Haneda.

🍜 Food & Restaurants👍 41,720Food & RestaurantsYouTubeIs Shin-Okubo's Viral Queue Cafe Worth It? 41,720 Japanese Likes Say the Line Is the Product
The single most-liked comment (41,720) under an honest review of meya — the perpetually-queued cake-and-coffee shop in Tokyo's Shin-Okubo area — reads: "If he's tearing into it this hard, the price must have been so far off the value that inside he was even angrier." Locals who'd been agreed ("it really was terrible," 3,761 likes), then dissected the queue itself: only three groups seated at a time, which one 3,315-like comment calls exhausting and a 2,794-like one calls a way to manufacture the look of wild popularity. The ¥2,200 cream cake drew its own math — "that buys a small whole cake!" (3,550) — and the thread ends with where they'd actually spend that money: Tokyo's old-school fruit parlors.

🍜 Food & Restaurants👍 12,743Food & RestaurantsYouTubeIs Hikiniku to Come Worth the Queue? Japan's Bluntest Food Reviewer Finally Cracked — and Locals Piled On
Japan's bluntest food reviewer called Hikiniku to Come's charcoal-grilled hamburg steak "pass-out-level" good — and the comment section confirmed it was a first: "I've never seen him praise anything this hard" (9,957 likes), "if HE says it, it must be seriously good" (11,018), "under ¥2,000 for this is basically a bug" (12,743). An ex-employee and a current staffer both surfaced in the thread, one revealing the patties are hand-kneaded fresh twice a day, the other posting the queue hack regulars pay 8 a.m. ticket runs to learn. The catch is that queue — and the two branches locals say are the smarter play.
