Is Hikiniku to Come Worth the Queue? Japan's Bluntest Food Reviewer Finally Cracked — and Japanese Diners Piled On
By Rakutaro · Tokyo, Japan

Japan's bluntest food reviewer called Hikiniku to Come's charcoal-grilled hamburg steak "pass-out-level" good, and the comment section confirmed it was a first: "I've never seen him praise anything this hard" (9,957 likes), "it must be seriously good" (11,018), "Under ¥2,000 for this is basically a bug" (12,743). An ex-employee and a current staffer both surfaced in the thread, one saying the patties really are kneaded fresh twice a day, the other posting the queue hack: line up at Kichijoji around 9:30 a.m. and you can usually book the slot you want (3,591). The catch is that queue. One diner took a numbered ticket at 8 a.m. and did not eat until 1 p.m.
“He's sounded happy on reviews before, but "pass-out-level"? I've never seen him praise anything this hard.”
Where Japanese visitors go instead
Staff here! The "pass-out-level" rating makes us so happy ✨ The Shibuya branch will be closed for a while from September, so please come to Kichijoji 😊 By the way — if you line up at Kichijoji around 9:30 a.m. (about 8:30 on weekends), you have a good chance of booking whatever time slot you like!!
— @ああ-x6k1g3,591 likesWe have four branches in Japan — Kichijoji, Shibuya, Kyoto and Fukuoka — so do come 🙌🙌
— @ああ-x6k1g278 likesThere's a Kyoto branch too — I went once, it was so good I went again on my second Kyoto trip. At first I thought "this price for meat, rice and miso soup?" — but you leave completely full and every flavor delivers. Huge recommend! Now I want to go again!!

One reply puts each patty at about 90 grams.

If the honest-review guy is saying all this, it must be seriously good.
Under ¥2,000 for this is basically a bug.
This place was stupidly good. It kept showing up on my TikTok so I'd written it off as all looks. I was wrong lol
This place has appeared a record three times on Yonino Channel — celebrities who eat extremely well keep going back. I'd wondered how good it could really be, and now even the honest reviewer is raving… I want to go more than ever.
I love this place. Honestly, the rice alone is good enough that I could eat bowls of just that.
I go to the Kichijoji branch now and then — the hamburg is great, obviously, but the iron-pot rice is unreal. Staff are kind and attentive too. Lovely shop.
Ex-employee here. The patties really are kneaded fresh twice a day, morning and afternoon, and we even ran monthly tasting contests for the rice — so this rating makes me genuinely happy. Thank you.
It was ridiculously good here. But I lined up at 8 a.m. for a numbered ticket and didn't eat until 1 p.m. — "just open more branches" is exactly right.
I go to the Kichijoji one a lot — you seriously have to line up in the morning to sign the book or you won't eat by lunch lol. But it's genuinely delicious, so everyone should absolutely go.
Truly delicious. You can also book online in advance (slots sometimes open the same morning), which is easy. But in summer it's hot inside, and the street out front smells like garbage. Please open more branches!!
